We Support Children Facing Poverty in New Zealand
We are a Child Poverty Action Group
We help by Upstanding, We help by being Kind Kiwis
We Help by warming the hearts of our most vulnerable
We help by giving a child a hand up.
Every Kiwi Kid has a right to not live in poverty.
And Kindness Inspires Kindness
What We Do
We help change lives...via Acts of Kindness
We provide a platform for Kind Kiwis to donate, preloved and new items to our most vulnerable Kiwi Children and families living in poverty.
One Kind Act can make a huge difference, Kindness feels good , even to the disheartened, Kindness inspires Kindness.
We think sometimes that Poverty is only being Hungry, cold and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for by our society , our whanau is the greatest poverty.
We must start in our own backyard to remedy any kind of poverty.
Eradicating poverty is not a task of charity , it is an act of Justice, every child deserves a hand up.
Every act of Kindness grows the spirit and strengthens the soul. When you are generous of heart and Kind to others it not only changes you it changes the world.,
We encourage you to turn to Kind Kiwi and Be One ! Our vulnerable children need to know that someone out there does care. Recycle repurpose, it makes a difference to a child who has next to nothing to begin with.

Who We Are
Hi my name is Zara Johannink, Te Atawhai Kiwi Trust translated as Kind Kiwi is a NZ Charity Founded in 2020, during lockdown by my mum and me and a Kind Little cute Pink Kiwi called Anahera, Anahera was created as a warm fuzz for Kind Kiwi as the name carries significant meaning. Anahera means Messenger or Angel in Maori culture, she is a very Kind Kiwi and we are always learning from her and her acts of kindness. We were dismayed during lockdown and just wanted to do what we could for children whose lives suddenly became harder. We did our first call for warm winter clothes and just asked the neighbourhood and friends to throw a bag of goodies over our gate, well so many Kind Kiwis came out of the woodwork it was humbling. That was the beginning of our little journey to address poverty by collecting and reusing resources, to make a difference to the lives of even just a few kiwi kids . Our Motto is that Charity begins at home, or over the fence, child poverty should not exist in NZ. Whilst we can't end poverty in NZ encouraging Acts of Kindness can make vulnerable Tamariki smile and warm their hearts, knowing that someone cares.
As I am now 16 yrs old I will be looking after Kind Kiwi from now, with my mum now working for me !
